A New Mars‐van Krevelen Mechanism for CO Oxidation on a Ti‐Decorated MXene

چکیده

Abstract First‐principles computations are performed to investigate the catalytic oxidation of CO on a Ti‐decorated Cr 2 TiC O MXene monolayer, through comprehensive analysis charge transfer, electronic density states, and difference interacting systems. By comparing reaction energy barriers, it is found that, rather than traditional Langmuir–Hinshelwood, Eley–Rideal, Mars‐van Krevelen (MvK) mechanisms, favours new variant MvK mechanism, in which anchored Ti atom activates surface oxygen spill over from substrate take part oxidation. This work highlights importance activating atoms by foreign metal improve activity, suggests that further studies into mechanism for may prove worthwhile.

CO Oxidation at the Interface of Au Nanoclusters and the Stepped-CeO2(111) Surface by the Mars-van Krevelen Mechanism.

DFT+U calculations of CO oxidation by Au12 nanoclusters supported on a stepped-CeO2(111) surface show that lattice oxygen at the step edge oxidizes CO bound to Au NCs by the Mars-van Krevelen (M-vK) mechanism. We found that CO2 desorption determines the rate of CO oxidation, and the vacancy formation energy is a reactivity descriptor for CO oxidation. Our results suggest that the M-vK mechanism...

Nitrogen Activation in a Mars−van Krevelen Mechanism for Ammonia Synthesis on Co3Mo3N

Co3Mo3N is one of the most active catalysts for ammonia synthesis; however, little is known about the atomistic details of N2 adsorption and activation. Here we examine whether N2 can adsorb and activate at nitrogen surface vacancies. We have identified the most favorable sites for surface nitrogen vacancy formation and have calculated vacancy formation free energies (and concentrations) taking...

a study on thermodynamic models for simulation of 1,3 butadiene purification columns

attempts have been made to study the thermodynamic behavior of 1,3 butadiene purification columns with the aim of retrofitting those columns to more energy efficient separation schemes. 1,3 butadiene is purified in two columns in series through being separated from methyl acetylene and 1,2 butadiene in the first and second column respectively. comparisons have been made among different therm...

CO oxidation mechanism on CeO(2)-supported Au nanoparticles.

Density functional theory was used to study the CO oxidation catalytic activity of CeO(2)-supported Au nanoparticles (NPs). Experimental observations on CeO(2) show that the surface of CeO(2) is enriched with oxygen vacancies. We compare CO oxidation by a Au(13) NP supported on stoichiometric CeO(2) (Au(13)@CeO(2)-STO) and partially reduced CeO(2) with three vacancies (Au(13)@CeO(2)-3VAC). The ...
